Retro Round-Up 14th December

Star Wars – The Mandalorian Cast announced

A few weeks back, we mentioned the upcoming Star Wars TV show The Mandalorian, which now has an official cast, and it’s pretty damn exciting. The excellent Pedro Pascal (Narcos) will be taking the title role and he’ll be joined by an eclectic cast including Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito (Gus from Breaking Bad), Werner Herzog (!) and Retro Ramble hero Carl Weathers.

Bond versus Freddie Mercury

Following his fantastic performance in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek is a man in demand. It appears the Bond producers are keen to cast him as the villain in Bond 25 (official title TBC, obviously). It’s not hard to see why –  Malek is a very talented actor with an intense presence (just look at those eyes!) that could be a good foil against Craig. However, the actor is currently due to start filming of the final season of his breakout show, Mr Robot, which could clash with Bond 25’s increasingly tight schedule.

Bruce Wayne, n’est pas?

File this one under “I can’t believe this is actually being reported as news”. Method man and former Welshman, Christian Bale has revealed he met Donald Trump whilst filming The Dark Knight Rises. Whilst shooting at Trump Tower, the current POTUS and former Apprentice host met with the actor and apparently spoke to him as if he was actually Bruce Wayne. Is anyone that surprised?

The comments came from the premiere of Bale’s latest film, Vice, where the actor transforms himself into Dick Cheney. We’re not huge fans of political dramas but with a top-notch cast (Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carell and Sam Rockwell) and a talented writer/director Adam McKay (Anchorman and The Big Short), we’re really looking forward to this.
